Being Strong

Kimberly Pope

Most of you know I live in Western North Carolina where Hurricane Helene made her lasting impression. Never in my lifetime have I seen such destruction and devastation in my hometown. I have seen so much sadness for the rest of my life. I have seen posts with negative remarks that hurt me to think people feel that way. Those people need some prayers.

However, through all the sadness and negativity there is hope, love, kindness, and most of all strength. My little hometown rallied together to help one another. We have met a lot of kind people from all over the United States who came to help us. The love these people have shown us gives me hope that this world still has a chance. The love we have shown each other is beyond anything you have ever seen.

But most importantly is the strength we all must not give up.  The strength we all must get up and put one foot in front of the other and the faith that we can move forward. Some people lost everything, loved ones and a little girl who lost her Raggedy Ann doll, but through it all, we are being strong.  We have been knocked down, but we will get back up stronger than ever. We are strong, we will fight for each other, and we will help one another until everyone is standing tall.
